FIRE PREVENTION FEE
also known as SRA (State Responsibility Area)

SRA Fire Prevention fee was enacted following
the signing of Assembly Bill XI 29 in July 2011. The law approved the
new annual Fire Prevention Fee to pay for fire prevention services
within the SRA. The fee is $150.00 per habitable structures within
the SRA. Habitable structure is defined as a building that can be
occupied for residential use.

Secured Property Tax Bills
Annual property
bills were mailed on Friday, October 12, 2012. If you received an
actual bill and have an impound or escrow account that your lender pays
your property taxes on your behalf,
please contact your lender / mortgage company
directly to verify that payment will be made on your behalf.
1st installment
is due November 1, 2012 and delinquent after Monday, December 10, 2012.
2nd installment
is due February 1, 2013 and delinquent after Wednesday, April 10, 2013.
Envelopes
post marked by the United States Post Office on or before the delinquent
dates will be accepted as timely. Post marks are reviewed
carefully; to be sure that the post mark is legible and clearly reads on
or before the due date, have the Post Office hand cancel your envelope.
Appropriate penalties will apply after each installment as outlined on
the tax bill.

PROPERTY TAX BILLS
ATTENTION VESSEL
OWNERS - Effective July 1, 2012 unpaid and delinquent vessels will
have a lien filed against the assessed owner as well as a hold possibly
being placed with the State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles
(R&T Code 3205) which will prevent renewal of the certificate number and
or transfer of ownership. Any and all additional applicable fees will
apply.

Payments
made by check, draft or money orders -
Please assure yourself that the
payment will be honored. Returned checks, drafts or money orders will be
subject to a return paper cost. The cost may be added to your tax bill.
Payments made by checks will be
converted into an electronic format, which could create an electronic
fund transfer that potentially could be withdrawn from your account as
soon as the same day that payment is made.
Additional
payment information -
When
making payment in person, please bring the ENTIRE tax bill, with payment
stubs intact, for
proper
validation and receipt.
If you
choose to mail the payment in and a receipt is desired, send in the
entire bill with your payment stubs intact and a self-addressed stamped
return envelope along with your payment.

Convenience Fees
The Treasurer & Tax
Collector's office does not charge a fee to handle electronic
transactions. However, the vendor processing the online payments
assesses the following convenience fees:
E-check payments ~
$3.00 flat fee for up to 10 assessments processed at the same time
Credit Card Payments ~
2.5% of the total amount to be charged.
Prior year tax bill information is
also available to print and review. See the drop down arrow in the upper
right hand corner, just above the fee assessment number box. Select which year's information you would like
to view (Current Year 2012/2013 or Prior Year 2011/2012) and follow the
instructions.
Don't forget to print a copy of the
prior year information for your income tax records.
