Placement Support Social
Workers (PSSWs) provide pre- and post-placement support services
to foster youth, their substitute care providers and to the
foster youths' Case Managing Social Worker (CMSW).
Supportive services provided
by PSSWs include:
-
Securing appropriate
placement for children (foster
homes, group homes, residential treatment facilities.)
-
Making the physical
placement (Take the child and their
belongings to the foster home. Answer any question that
child and foster parent may have).
-
Provide crisis intervention.
-
Provide support to assist in stabilizing and
maintaining
the placement.
The PSSW does not have the
authority to make decisions regarding services, visitation,
placement and any area, which would require an action or
correspondence with the court.
