The
Permanent Placement (PP) Program is responsible for the children
who are dependents of the court,
who are not being returned to the home of a parent. The PP
provides services that support efforts toward permanency for the
child and successful movement out of the Juvenile Dependency
System.
Adoption is considered the best permanent plan for the child,
because it provides the highest degree of permanency. Legal
guardianship is considered the next best
possible permanent plan followed by, the other alternative
planned permanent living arrangements.
If
the child continues to remain in
foster care
from the ages
of 16 to 18 they
are referred to
Independent Living Program (ILP).
The ILP program provides
the youth with daily life skills that will enable them to be
self sufficient when they turn 18 years old. The social worker
works closely
with the child, and collaborate with all
other professionals who are in child's life to ensure stability
throughout the child's time in foster care.
