| Under the supervision and direction
of the Health Officer, Yuba County is mandated by California law to
register all births and deaths that occur in our local registration
district. We are also mandated to issue burial permits for the
internment or movement of human remains.
Who may obtain copies?
Effective July 1, 2003, the California Health and
Safety Code
Section 103526 (c), permits only authorized persons as defined below
to receive certified copies of birth and death records. Those
who are not authorized by law to receive an authorized certified
copy may receive a certified copy with the legend "INFORMATIONAL,
NOT A VALID DOCUMENT TO ESTABLISH IDENTITY."

The registrant (person listed on
the certificate) or a parent or legal guardian of the registrant.

A party entitled to receive the record as a result of a court order, or
an attorney or a licensed adoption agency seeking the birth record in order
to comply with the requirements of Family Code Section 3140 or 7603.

A member of a law enforcement agency or representative of another
governmental agency, as provided by law, who is conducting official business.
(Companies representing a government agency must provide
authorization from the government agency.)

A child, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, spouse, or registered domestic
partner of the registrant.

An attorney representing the registrant or the registrant's estate, or any
person or agency empowered by statute or appointed by a court to act on
behalf of the registrant or the registrant's estate.
(If you are requesting a certified copy under a power of
attorney, please include a copy of the power of attorney with
the application form.)
Any funeral director ordering certified copies of a death certificate on
behalf of any authorized individual specified above or in the
Health and Safety Code Section 7100.
To register a home birth that
occurred in Yuba County:
Contact Yuba County Public
Health Vital Records at 530-749-6366 to obtain a packet to register the home
birth and for further information.
To order birth certificates in
Yuba County:

Birth must have occurred within
the County of Yuba.

Birth certificates are kept for
the current year and 1 year prior in the Health Department. Any birth
certificates needed for prior years can be obtained by contacting the Yuba
County Clerk at 530-749-7851 located at 915 8th St. Marysville.

A sworn statement
must be completed by
person requesting copies. This must be notarized if requesting copies
by mail.

$20.00 effective January 1, 2013
